What it is
The Firebird Photoresistance is a photocell fitted to Firebird oil-fired boilers, listed as a photocell for G3B, G5 and G10 applications. It monitors flame presence in the combustion chamber and signals the burner control to prove ignition and sustain the firing sequence. The part is supplied under part number ZE3002280.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Burner goes to lockout shortly after the oil is ignited
- Repeated lockouts on start-up with no sustained flame signal
- Boiler ignites and runs, then shuts down as if flame has been lost
- Intermittent operation that clears after the photocell is cleaned or reseated
