The short version
A trade counter that grew into a national supplier
Hanicks started as a local heating merchant on the Doncaster industrial estate — a trade counter with shelves of spares and a phone that rang because the last place had let someone down. We grew because engineers trusted us to have the part, to know whether it fitted, and to get it there when we said we would.
Today we supply over 110,000 components — from everyday thermostats and diverter valves to discontinued PCBs and obsolete heat exchangers that the big nationals have stopped listing. The operation has scaled, but the principle hasn't changed: every order gets looked at by a person who knows the trade, and nothing ships unless we're confident it is the right part for the job.
We are still based in Doncaster, still answer the phone ourselves, and still treat a heating breakdown as the distress purchase it is — because most of us have been on the other end of one.

Every order is checked by the technical team before it leaves. We verify fitment against the appliance, the GC number and the system it is going into — because a second trip costs you more than a part ever will.

How we got here
1990
A trade counter opens in Doncaster
Hanicks begins as a local heating merchant serving engineers and installers across South Yorkshire — shelves of spares, a phone, and the principle that if you say you have the part, you have the part.
2004
From the counter to the courier
Same-day despatch and express delivery capability is built out, turning a regional trade counter into a national supplier. The catalogue deepens to cover commercial and industrial HVAC alongside domestic boiler spares.
2012
Four grades, one promise
We formalise the part-grade system — OEM genuine, compatible alternative, refurbished and obsolete — giving engineers an honest choice at every price point, with fitment verified on every grade before dispatch.
2019
Obsolete sourcing becomes a specialism
As manufacturers discontinue lines, we invest in sourcing networks for rare and obsolete parts — the components the big nationals have stopped listing. This becomes one of the things engineers come to us for first.
