What it is
The Firebird ZE3002279 is a solenoid coil used on Firebird HEAT-PAC oil-fired boilers. It forms part of the oil burner's solenoid valve assembly, where the coil is energised to open the valve and allow oil through to the burner nozzle. It is a service component, fitted when the existing coil fails to operate the valve.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Burner fails to fire, with no oil reaching the nozzle despite the boiler calling for heat
- Coil windings show an open or incorrect resistance reading when tested
- Coil body is swollen, cracked, scorched or shows signs of overheating
- Burner locks out intermittently, particularly once the appliance has warmed up
- No audible or felt click from the solenoid valve when the burner is energised
Before you order
- Confirm the boiler model against the fit list above, as HEAT-PAC variants differ
- Check the existing coil's part number and terminal arrangement match ZE3002279
- Inspect the solenoid valve body and wiring for damage that may also need attention
- Isolate the electrical supply to the boiler before removing or fitting the coil
