What it is
This is the secondary (domestic hot water) plate heat exchanger fitted to a range of Worcester Bosch Greenstar boilers. It transfers heat from the primary circuit to the water drawn off at the taps. The part was historically supplied with 12 plates; current stock under this part number uses a 10-plate design with wider waterways that is less prone to blocking and scaling, and is fully compatible.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Reduced or fluctuating hot water temperature at the tap
- Kettling or banging noise from the boiler
- Slow hot water flow, suggesting a partially blocked exchanger
- Boiler locks out on a low-flow or overheat fault
Before you order
- Confirm your appliance model against the fitment list above
- Isolate electrical power and the water supply before removal
- Have a Gas Safe registered engineer carry out the replacement
