What it is
The Andrews Z590 is a magnesium anode rod for Andrews water heaters. It is a sacrificial anode that protects the cylinder interior from corrosion by corroding in preference to the steel. It is used across the Andrews Ecoflo range of hot water cylinders.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The anode rod is significantly corroded, pitted or reduced in size
- Hot water has a metallic or rotten-egg smell
- Rumbling or knocking noises from the cylinder
- Discoloured or rusty hot water
- The anode has not been inspected or replaced within the recommended interval
