What it is
The Gledhill XB083 is an immersion heater supplied without a thermostat, for use in the Pulsacoil A-Class appliance. It is the electrical heating element that warms the water held in the unit. No thermostat is fitted to the element itself, so it is supplied as the heater only.
Signs this part needs replacing
- No hot water when the immersion is the only heat source
- The element does not draw current, or trips the circuit breaker or RCD when energised
- Continuity across the element terminals reads open circuit
- Visible corrosion, heavy scale or a split on the element sheath
- Water weeping from the element head or its sealing joint

- Isolate the electrical supply and drain the unit before removal
