What it is
The Grant 8 litre expansion vessel is a sealed diaphragm vessel used to absorb the expansion of water as it heats within a sealed heating system. It is fitted to Grant Vortex ECO wall hung condensing boilers, both internal and external models. The vessel maintains stable system pressure and protects components from the pressure rise that occurs during normal operation.
Signs this part needs replacing
- System pressure rises sharply when the boiler heats up and falls again once it cools
- Water discharging from the pressure relief valve discharge pipe during heating cycles
- Boiler repeatedly losing pressure and needing regular topping up
- Pressure gauge reading fluctuates widely between cold and hot states
- Water found inside the vessel connection or around the vessel body, indicating a failed diaphragm
