What it is
The 173628 is Ideal Heating's diverter valve head kit, built around a Honeywell VC6012 actuator with the grey plastic body fitted to earlier production. It mounts onto the diverter valve body already inside the boiler and switches priority between the central heating circuit and domestic hot water on demand.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Boiler stuck serving only heating or only hot water, with no priority switch-over
- Radiators run warm while a hot tap is open, or the reverse
- Diverter motor buzzing or stalling without moving the valve
- Erratic hot water/heating priority with no fault code showing
