What it is
This is a Vaillant gasket supplied under part number 981107, also listed as 0020107727. It is a sealing component used within Vaillant water heating appliances, where it sits between mating surfaces to prevent water or flue gas escaping from the joint. Gaskets of this type are consumable items: they compress to seal, then harden and lose resilience over the service life of the appliance.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Water weeping or dripping from the joint the gasket seals
- Visible water staining, scale trails or corrosion around the mating faces
- The gasket has hardened, flattened or cracked and no longer springs back when pressed
- A joint that has been disturbed during servicing and will not reseal
- Slight seepage that reappears shortly after the appliance is brought back into use
Before you order
- Confirm the part number 981107 or 0020107727 against your appliance's parts list, as gaskets are often specific to a single joint or assembly
- Check whether the joint also uses a seal kit or additional O-rings, since these are frequently replaced at the same time
