What it is
A 150W electric heating element for towel rails, supplied with a tee piece and a blanking plug. It is fitted to the towel rail to provide electric heating, so the rail warms towels without a central heating circuit. The tee and plug allow the element to be installed and the remaining tappings to be sealed.

- The towel rail no longer warms when the element is switched on
- No current draw at the element when tested with a clamp meter
- The RCD or MCB trips when the element is powered up
- Visible corrosion, pitting or swelling on the element body
- Water weeping from the element gland or its seal
