What it is
This is an Incoloy 14 immersion heater supplied with a thermostat copper pocket, listed within the Special Offers vented immersion heater range. It heats domestic hot water in a vented cylinder, with the copper pocket holding the thermostat in contact with the stored water so it can control the element. The element sheath is Incoloy 14.
Signs this part needs replacing
- No hot water, or water that is only lukewarm, from the cylinder
- The immersion heater trips the RCD or blows the fuse when switched on
- Visible corrosion, heavy scale or a split in the element sheath
- Water weeping from the immersion heater boss or around the pocket
- The thermostat no longer switches the element off at the set temperature

- Confirm the cylinder is a vented (open-vented, gravity-fed) type, not an unvented or pressurised cylinder
- Check the immersion heater boss thread and element length suit your cylinder
- Check the thermostat pocket type and length match the thermostat being fitted
- Have the cylinder make and model to hand so it can be checked against the manufacturer's parts list
