What it is
An Incoloy 11 immersion heater supplied with a copper thermostat pocket. It is intended for use with vented immersion heaters, where the element heats stored water in the cylinder and the pocket accepts the cylinder thermostat. The Incoloy 11 sheath is the alloy used for the heating element itself.
Signs this part needs replacing
- No hot water from the cylinder despite the immersion heater being switched on
- The immersion heater trips the RCD or circuit breaker when energised
- Water is only lukewarm, or the cylinder takes noticeably longer to heat
- Visible corrosion, blistering or splitting on the element sheath
- Water weeping from the element head or its sealing gasket

- Confirm the cylinder is a vented type and not a pressurised unvented cylinder
- Check the existing element head, thread and thermostat pocket arrangement against the part being ordered
- Verify the model against the manufacturer's parts list before purchase
- Confirm the thermostat pocket is required for your installation, as some setups use a different thermostat fixing
