What it is
A copper immersion heater supplied with a thermostat, listed under the Special Offers range of vented immersion heaters. It is fitted to a vented hot water cylinder to heat stored domestic hot water and to control the cylinder temperature through the integral thermostat.
Signs this part needs replacing
- No hot water from the cylinder despite the immersion heater being switched on
- The circuit breaker or RCD trips when the immersion heater is energised
- Water weeping from the immersion heater head or its sealing joint at the cylinder boss
- The thermostat no longer holds the cylinder at temperature, running either too hot or too cool
- Visible corrosion, heavy scale or a failed element sheath on the immersion heater
