What it is
This is a replacement thermocouple of the type fitted to Burco Dean GC 70 gas-fired hot water boilers. It senses the pilot flame and holds the gas valve's safety solenoid open; if the pilot goes out, the thermocouple cools and shuts the gas supply off.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Pilot light won't stay lit, or goes out as soon as you release the gas control knob
- Pilot flame is weak, yellow or lifting away from the thermocouple tip
- Appliance cuts out intermittently during use
- Thermocouple tip is discoloured, corroded or visibly damaged
