What it is
The Nuway T97706V is a FIDA ignition transformer conversion kit for oil burners, rated 2-pole, 20mA at 240V. It generates the high-voltage arc at the burner's electrodes that ignites the fuel-air mixture, and supersedes the earlier Nuway/Elektrodyn transformer C02024U.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Burner won't ignite, or ignites late with a delayed "bang"
- No spark visible at the electrodes when the burner calls for ignition
- Burner locks out on ignition failure repeatedly
- Transformer housing is cracked, arcing externally, or smells of burning insulation
