What it is
A gas pilot thermocouple with an M10 threaded connector, sold as the replacement type for the Chaffoteaux Britony 2 boiler and cross-referenced to Chaffoteaux's own part numbers 60035087 and 35087. It generates a small voltage from pilot flame heat to hold the flame-failure device open, cutting gas supply if the pilot goes out.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Pilot light won't stay alight, or takes several attempts to hold in
- Boiler locks out and needs the ignition sequence repeated more often
- The flame-failure device trips as soon as the control knob is released
- Visible corrosion, discolouration or a kinked probe on the existing thermocouple
Before you order
- Match the full part number printed on the thermocouple you are removing
- Isolate the gas supply and have a Gas Safe registered engineer carry out the replacement
