What it is

The Worcester Bosch automatic air vent, part number T00500087A0, is a hydraulics component used across the manufacturer's Greenstar range of gas boilers. It discharges air that collects in the central heating circuit, acting as a safety feature by preventing air locks and the circulation problems they cause. A float inside the vent body responds to the water level: when the system is full the float is forced to the top and the vent closes, and as the water level falls the float drops and the vent opens to let accumulated air escape.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • Radiators that need bleeding again shortly after being bled, suggesting air is still entering or not being released.
  • Kettling, gurgling or rushing noises from the boiler or pipework as air passes through the heat exchanger.
  • Cold spots at the top of radiators while the lower sections heat normally.
  • Water weeping or dripping from the vent body or its connection.
  • System pressure that falls steadily without a visible leak elsewhere on the circuit.

Before you order

  • Check the GC number or the appliance serial plate to confirm the boiler model before ordering, as the same vent is used across several Greenstar variants.
  • The alternative number 1030929 may appear on older paperwork or parts listings for the same item.
  • Compare the vent body and its connection with the component removed from the appliance before fitting.
  • This part is fitted to a gas appliance; installation must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
