What it is

The Glow-worm S900000 is a thermocouple used in the combustion and exhaust circuit of Glow-worm Economy series boilers. It sits in the pilot flame path and generates the small voltage that holds the gas valve open while a flame is proven, so the burner can run safely. It is a serviceable spare supplied by Glow-worm for the Economy range and their BF variants.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The pilot flame lights but will not hold once the control knob is released.
  • The boiler locks out repeatedly shortly after ignition.
  • The pilot goes out on its own during normal running, with no other fault indicated.
  • Flame supervision becomes intermittent, giving random shutdowns across the day.
  • The thermocouple tip is visibly sooted, discoloured or the lead is damaged.
