What it is

The Broag S50629 is a high limit thermostat rated at 110°C with auto reset, identified by the code LS8097A1206B. It is a safety control fitted to Broag commercial boiler spares, cutting the burner when the appliance exceeds its set temperature limit. Once the temperature falls back within range, the auto reset function returns the thermostat to its normal operating state.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The boiler repeatedly locks out or shuts down during a demand for heat.
  • The appliance overheats and the high limit trips even when the system is not calling for high temperatures.
  • The thermostat fails to reset automatically after the boiler cools, leaving the appliance without heat or hot water.
  • Erratic switching behaviour, with the burner cutting in and out outside its normal control range.
  • Visible damage, corrosion or a loose or burnt connection at the thermostat terminals.

Before you order

  • Confirm your appliance model and serial number against the manufacturer's parts list.
  • Check the rating and reset type on the existing thermostat — this part is 110°C with auto reset.
  • Compare the part number and identification code on the fitted component with S50629 and LS8097A1206B.
  • Inspect the wiring and terminal condition before fitting, as damaged connections can mimic thermostat failure.
