What it is
The Glow-worm S1006400 is a three way valve cartridge used in Glow-worm GW series combination boilers. It sits inside the diverter valve body and moves to direct water through either the central heating circuit or the domestic hot water plate heat exchanger, depending on demand. The cartridge is a serviceable internal component, so it can be renewed without replacing the complete valve assembly.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Domestic hot water runs cold or only lukewarm while the heating circuit stays hot
- Radiators warm up when only hot water is drawn at the tap
- Heating stops working when hot water is demanded, or the two modes fight each other
- DHW temperature fluctuates or cycles between hot and cold during a draw-off
- The valve spindle feels stiff, gritty or fails to return when the actuator is removed
