What it is
A neoprene gasket strip manufactured by Broag, supplied in a 10 metre length with a 20mm x 6mm cross-section. It is used to form a compressible seal on Broag commercial boiler assemblies, seating between mating surfaces to prevent leakage. The neoprene material provides a resilient seal that tolerates the movement and temperature cycling seen in boiler operation.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Visible cracking, perishing or surface breakdown along the strip
- The gasket has hardened and no longer compresses when the joint is tightened
- Traces of water, condensate or flue gas escaping at the sealed joint
- The strip is flattened or deformed and no longer fills the gap
- Black residue or crumbling material around the joint face
