What it is
A pilot tube kit manufactured by Johnson & Starley for use on Hispec M31 boilers. It supplies the pilot gas feed between the SIT gas valve and the pilot burner assembly. This kit is specified for appliances fitted with a SIT valve only.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The pilot flame will not stay lit or extinguishes shortly after ignition
- A weak, unstable or discoloured pilot flame
- Visible kinking, cracking or crushing of the pilot tube
- Soot or debris blocking the pilot tube bore
- Repeated boiler lockouts traced to the pilot circuit

- Confirm the appliance is a Johnson & Starley Hispec M31
- Confirm the gas valve fitted is a SIT valve, as this kit is not suitable for other valve types
- Check the existing pilot tube against the manufacturer's parts list before ordering
- Inspect the pilot burner and electrode at the same time, as faults can present similarly
