What it is
The Johnson & Starley electrode and lead is a double bend probe assembly used on State series boilers. It carries the ignition spark to the burner and forms part of the boiler's ignition circuit. It is supplied as an electrode with its attached lead.

- Boiler fails to ignite or locks out on start-up
- No spark visible at the electrode during an ignition attempt
- Electrode probe tip is eroded, cracked or heavily carboned
- Lead insulation is perished, split or showing exposed conductor
- Intermittent ignition faults that worsen in damp conditions
