What it is
The Johnson & Starley burner inspection gasket seals the burner inspection cover on J55-65 and J70-90 Mk2 warm air units. It provides a seal at the inspection aperture so combustion products cannot escape past the cover. The gasket is a service item and is normally renewed whenever the cover is removed.

- Visible cracking, perishing or hardening of the gasket material
- Soot staining or discolouration around the burner inspection cover
- Gasket breaking up or sticking to the cover when it is removed
- Signs of combustion products escaping at the inspection aperture
