What it is
The S00861 is a thermopile manufactured by Johnson & Starley for use in State SBT appliances. It generates the millivolt signal that holds the gas valve open on non-electronic ignition systems. This part supersedes S00814.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The pilot lights but will not stay lit once the control knob is released
- The boiler fails to fire, or drops out shortly after the burner ignites
- Intermittent operation or repeated lockouts during a call for heat
- The gas valve does not hold in, with no sustained millivolt output from the thermopile
