What it is

The RT520RF is a wireless programmable room thermostat from Salus Controls, part of the RT range of heating controls. It measures room temperature and switches the heating on or off by sending a radio signal to a receiver connected to the boiler. The unit runs on TPI temperature control and can be wall mounted or stood on a desk.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The boiler stops receiving a call for heat even though the thermostat shows a demand
  • The display is blank, faint or shows missing segments
  • The thermostat and receiver lose their radio link and will not re-pair
  • Room temperature readings drift noticeably from the actual room temperature
  • Buttons or the dial become unresponsive, or settings will not save

Before you order

  • Confirm the existing thermostat model and part number against the compatibility list
  • Check the boiler or receiver accepts a volt-free switching output before fitting
  • Have 2x AA batteries ready, as the thermostat is battery powered
  • Note the alternative part number 5180187 when cross-referencing stock
