What it is
The Unicrimp QBB is a pre-insulated butt splice connector used to join two cable ends in-line. It is blue colour-coded for 1.5-2.5mm² conductors and crimped rather than soldered. Unicrimp is the cable products brand of the Scolmore Group.
Signs this part needs replacing
- An existing splice feels loose, discoloured or warm to the touch
- The insulation sleeve is split, cracked or brittle
- Exposed copper strands are visible at the joint
- A rewiring job needs a fresh in-line joint rather than reusing an old connector
