What it is
The Potterton 960/1433 is an oxypilot assembly — the pilot burner unit that provides the standing flame used to light the main burner on a Potterton gas appliance. It is manufactured for Potterton and carries the Main brand. The oxypilot element monitors the flame so the appliance can shut down safely if the pilot is extinguished or the oxygen level in the combustion air falls.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The pilot flame will not stay lit after the button or ignition sequence is released.
- The pilot lights but the main burner does not follow, or the appliance repeatedly locks out.
- The pilot flame is weak, yellow, lifting or visibly distorted rather than a steady blue flame.
