What it is
The Sleepsafe Smoke Alarm Tester from Arctic Hayes is a 150 ml aerosol that discharges simulated smoke for testing smoke alarms. It allows an alarm to be challenged at the sensor without lighting a fire or burning test material. The simulated smoke is directed at the alarm to confirm that it responds and sounds.
Before you order
- Confirm that aerosol smoke testing is acceptable for the alarm being checked, as some manufacturers specify a particular test method.
- Check the alarm type on site — optical, ionisation and heat alarms respond differently to smoke testing.
- Allow adequate ventilation and let the alarm clear fully after testing before restoring it to service.
