What it is
The MPCBS72B is a genuine Grant relay base, listed on Grant UK's own oil boiler spares pages as fitting the Vortex combi built before September 2008. It sits on the boiler's control panel and holds the plug-in relay (Grant part MPCBS72) that switches the boiler's heating and hot water functions.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Boiler fails to respond to heating or hot water demand
- Intermittent lockouts with no other fault found
- Relay contacts show pitting, arcing marks or a burnt smell
- Boiler cycles erratically or the relay fails to click in
Before you order
- Confirm your Vortex combi was built before September 2008
- Match the part number printed on the existing relay base
- Isolate the electrical supply before opening the control panel
