What it is

The Grant MPCBS123 is a 3 bar pressure relief valve with a two-port connection, manufactured by Grant for use on Vortex ECO condensing oil boilers. It opens at its set pressure to discharge excess system pressure and protect the boiler and associated components from over-pressurisation. It is fitted across both external and utility variants of the Vortex ECO range.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • Water discharging from the pressure relief discharge pipe when the system is cold and at normal operating pressure
  • The valve weeping or dripping continuously from the outlet
  • System pressure repeatedly dropping and needing topping up
  • Scale, sludge or debris preventing the valve from reseating after it has lifted
  • Visible corrosion or damage around the valve body or seating face

Before you order

  • Confirm the boiler model and variant against the fit list above
  • Check the existing valve is rated at 3 bar and has a two-port connection
  • Verify the system pressure gauge reading before diagnosing the valve, as expansion vessel faults can produce similar symptoms
  • Check the discharge pipework is clear and correctly terminated before fitting
