- Visible water weeping or staining at the pipe unions or along the pipe run
- Corrosion, pitting or scale build-up on the pipe wall
- System pressure dropping repeatedly with no other obvious cause
- Distorted or kinked pipework at the expansion vessel connection
- Traces of water inside the boiler casing below the vessel pipework
