What it is
The Kane MSP is a manually operated smoke pump used to test the smoke content of flue gases from oil-fired boilers and burners. The engineer draws a sample of flue gas through filter paper in the pump and compares the resulting mark against a smoke density chart to grade the result.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The pump loses suction or won't seal on the stroke
- The plunger is seized, stiff or leaking
- The smoke density chart is missing or too worn to read against
- Connections or fittings are cracked or damaged

- Keep spare SP9 filter papers in stock — they're a separate consumable to the pump
