What it is
An industrial immersion heater rated at 12kW on a three-phase 400V supply, intended for commercial and industrial hot water cylinders and storage vessels. It uses a 400mm titanium element sheath with a 1.3/4 inch threaded connection, and is supplied with a red IP65 cover and twin thermostats.
Signs this part needs replacing
- No hot water, or water failing to reach the set temperature
- MCB or RCD tripping each time the immersion is energised
- Open-circuit or low insulation resistance reading on the element
- Thermostat failing to cut out, causing overheating or nuisance tripping
- Visible corrosion, heavy scale build-up, or a leak at the boss or gasket
Before you order
- Confirm the cylinder boss thread is 1.3/4 inch and that a 400mm element suits the cylinder depth
- Confirm a three-phase 400V supply is available and that circuit protection and contactors are rated for 12kW
- Confirm twin thermostats are required and that existing control wiring suits the IP65 cover
- Check there is adequate headroom above the cylinder for the cover and thermostat housing
