What it is
The Ideal 175592 is a detection electrode used in Ideal Logic, Code Combi and Independent boiler ranges. Mounted at the burner, it monitors whether a flame has established and relays that signal back to the boiler's control board. A clean, stable signal from this electrode is what allows the boiler to move from ignition into normal running.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The boiler locks out shortly after the burner lights
- Ignition is attempted repeatedly but the flame is not sustained
- A flame failure or ignition fault code appears on the display
- The boiler shuts down intermittently while there is still a demand for heat or hot water
- The electrode tip is heavily carboned, cracked or visibly eroded when inspected
