The Ideal 173963 pump head kit is a replacement pump assembly for Ideal Isar and Esprit boilers. The pump head moves water around the primary heating circuit, so it is the component that keeps circulation going through the boiler and the radiators. This head is intended for boilers built prior to boiler code Xf, and the pump body is supplied under the GES brand.

• The boiler fires but radiators stay cold or heat unevenly, pointing to poor circulation.
• Grinding, whining or rumbling noise from the pump housing when the boiler runs.
• The pump head runs hot to the touch or the impeller has seized and will not turn.
• Overheat faults, lockouts or repeated resets during a heating demand.
• Domestic hot water performance drops away alongside the heating fault.

• Confirm the boiler code or serial number on the data badge is prior to Xf, as this head is only suitable for those earlier builds.
• Cross-check the part number on the existing pump head against 173963, 177147 or 170990.
• Check the pump body and seals while the head is off, and replace any worn gaskets or O-rings at the same time.
