What it is
The Hispec HSA/BP is an optical (photoelectric) smoke alarm powered by a 9V battery, for general domestic fire safety use.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Repeated low-battery chirp even after a fresh 9V battery is fitted
- No response when the test button is pressed
- Discoloured or yellowed casing (can indicate age beyond service life)
- False alarms with no smoke present
Before you order
- Replace the 9V battery first and re-test before assuming the alarm has failed
- Confirm the part number on the existing alarm matches HSA/BP
- Check whether the installation actually needs an interconnectable alarm instead
