What it is
The HRT4-ZW is a battery-powered electronic room thermostat from Horstmann (Secure) that communicates wirelessly using Z-Wave two-way RF mesh technology, removing the need for control wiring back to the boiler. It only operates once installed and paired with the ASR-ZW receiver unit, and uses TPI (Time Proportional Integral) control software for close temperature management.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Thermostat loses communication with the receiver, or won't re-pair
- Display is blank, dim or unresponsive after fresh batteries
- Heating no longer responds to the set temperature
- Case is cracked or the mounting has failed
Before you order
- Check the part number on the back of your existing thermostat matches HRT4-ZW
- Confirm you also have (or are replacing) the matching ASR-ZW receiver, as the thermostat won't operate without it
- Fit fresh AAA batteries before assuming the unit has failed
- Installation must be carried out by a suitably qualified person
