What it is
The Popular OIL fire valve is a safety shut-off device fitted to oil-fired boiler installations. It closes the oil supply when the sensing capillary reaches 65°C, cutting fuel to the burner in an overheat or fire condition. The 1.5 m capillary allows the sensing phial to be sited away from the valve body.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The valve fails to shut off the oil supply when the sensing phial is heated
- Oil weeps or drips from the valve body or capillary connection
- The capillary is kinked, crushed or corroded
- The valve trips repeatedly without an obvious overheat cause
- The sensing phial or capillary has been damaged during servicing
