What it is
The Popular Cylinder 6 Bar Pressure Relief Valve is a cold water inlet control component used on Popular Cylinder unvented hot water cylinders. It opens at 6 bar to relieve excess pressure from the cylinder, protecting the vessel and associated fittings. The valve connects by a 1/2 inch male x female thread.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Water discharging continuously from the relief pipe or tundish
- Dripping from the valve outlet when the system is at normal operating pressure
- The valve fails to reseat after discharging
- Scale or corrosion around the valve seat or threaded connections
- System pressure rising above the set point without the valve opening
