What it is
This is a 16'' 3kW immersion heater with an Incoloy sheathed element and a 1 1/2'' thread, manufactured by Popular Cylinder Spares. It screws into the cylinder boss and heats the stored domestic hot water electrically. It is a cylinder-type spare intended for the appliances listed below.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Domestic hot water stays cold or lukewarm with the immersion heater switched on and the circuit live.
- The immersion circuit trips the RCD or MCB when the heater is energised.
- The element sheath shows corrosion, blistering or splitting.
- Continuity testing across the element terminals shows an open circuit.
- Heavy limescale on the sheath is restricting heat transfer to the stored water.
Before you order
- Confirm the cylinder boss accepts a 1 1/2'' thread.
- Check the existing element is 16'' so the new element clears the cylinder base and any internal fittings.
- Confirm the supply and circuit protection are suitable for a 3kW load.
- Check the appliance against the Fits list above.
