What it is
The RWC 3.5 bar pressure reducing valve is an old-type cold water inlet control used on unvented cylinders and similar stored hot water appliances. It regulates incoming mains pressure down to a stable 3.5 bar before the water enters the cylinder. This is the earlier pattern of the valve, not the current production version.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Pressure at the hot taps has risen noticeably above the usual level
- The pressure relief valve discharges during normal heating cycles
- Water weeping or dripping from the valve body or its connections
- Whistling, humming or chattering from the inlet control when a tap is opened
- Reduced or erratic flow through the cold water inlet
