What it is
The RWC 3 Bar Pressure Reducing Valve (Old Type) is a cold water inlet control component used on unvented hot water cylinders. It regulates the incoming mains supply down to a stable 3 bar outlet pressure before the water enters the cylinder. This version is the older pattern valve, supplied for the Popular Cylinder Spares cold water inlet controls range.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Discharge from the cylinder relief valve, suggesting the inlet pressure is no longer being controlled
- Noticeably higher or lower outlet pressure than the set 3 bar
- Erratic or pulsing flow at hot outlets as the valve fails to regulate
- Water hammer or noise on the cold inlet when taps are opened or closed
- Visible scale, corrosion or leaks around the valve body
