What it is
The 5 Bar PRV Cartridge Potable (Blue) is a pressure reducing valve cartridge from Popular Cylinder Spares, listed within the cold water inlet controls range. It sits in the inlet control group on Popular Cylinder cylinder installations to regulate incoming water pressure to a 5 bar set point. The blue identification marks the potable water variant.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Outlet pressure at taps fed through the inlet group rising above the 5 bar setting
- Pressure at outlets fluctuating or falling away during draw-off
- Water weeping from the valve body or cartridge housing
- Water hammer or banging when taps are closed
- Scale or debris visible on the cartridge when the valve is stripped down
Before you order
- Confirm the existing cartridge is the 5 bar variant, as the pressure rating affects downstream outlet pressure
- Check that the inlet control group is the Popular Cylinder Spares type
- Verify the blue potable water variant is correct for the installation
- Have the cylinder make and model to hand before ordering
