What it is
The TPR28 is a 7 bar temperature and pressure relief valve from Popular Cylinder, supplied with 28mm x 1'' connections and a 200mm probe. It forms part of the cold water inlet controls group of Popular Cylinder spares and is used on unvented hot water cylinders. Its function is to discharge water from the cylinder if the stored temperature or system pressure rises above the valve setting.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Water passing through the tundish during heating or hot water draw-off
- Continuous weeping or dripping from the valve outlet
- The valve fails to reseat after discharging and keeps passing water
- Scale or debris around the seat causing a visible leak
- Discharge during normal heating cycles with no over-temperature or over-pressure condition
