What it is
The TPR22 is a temperature and pressure relief valve supplied under the Popular Cylinder brand for unvented hot water cylinders. It discharges water when cylinder pressure reaches 7 bar, or when temperature rises beyond safe limits, protecting the cylinder and the surrounding installation. The valve body carries a 22mm connection and a 3/4" connection.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Water weeping or discharging from the valve outlet with the cylinder at normal operating pressure
- Continuous drip from the tundish or discharge pipe
- The valve fails to reseat after a pressure or temperature event
- Scale or corrosion visible around the valve body or seating face
- Discharge occurring during normal heating cycles with no overheat or overpressure condition
