• The band or housing is corroded, cracked or visibly deformed
• The screw thread is stripped or slips instead of tightening
• The clamp will not hold tension and the joint weeps or drips
• The band has been overtightened and no longer sits flat on the hose
• The clamp has been removed and refitted several times and no longer grips reliably

• Measure the outside diameter of the hose with the fitting inserted and confirm it falls within the 12-20mm range

• Confirm there is enough access to turn the screw once the clamp is in position
