What it is
The Grant Pressure Relief Valve (Pre Nov. 2010) is a safety valve fitted to Grant unvented hot water cylinders. It opens to discharge water when the cylinder pressure rises above its set point, protecting the cylinder and associated pipework from over-pressurisation. This variant is specified for Grant DuoWave HP and MonoWave HP cylinders built before November 2010.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Water weeping or dripping continuously from the valve outlet
- Discharge pipework running when the cylinder is not heating
- The valve fails to reseat after it has lifted and discharged
- Scale, corrosion or debris visible around the valve seat or outlet
- System pressure repeatedly rising and triggering discharge
