What it is
The Gledhill FT429 is a ball float for the ball valve assembly fitted to Gledhill thermal store and boiler appliances. It provides the buoyancy that opens and closes the valve as the water level in the feed and expansion cistern rises and falls, holding the level within the designed range.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Water keeps running into the cistern after the set level is reached
- Constant trickle or overflow from the feed and expansion tank
- Water level in the cistern sits higher than normal or continues to rise
- The float does not rise with the water level, or sits noticeably lower than usual
- Cracking, splitting or waterlogging visible on the float
