What it is
The Danfoss BFP 11 R3 is a rotary oil pump used on Firebird pressure-jet burners. It is supplied without a coil, so the solenoid coil is ordered separately or reused from the pump being replaced. The pump meters and pressurises the fuel supply to the burner nozzle.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The burner locks out repeatedly and will not establish a stable flame
- Oil pressure at the pump gauge port falls below the setting required for the nozzle, or cannot be adjusted
- Combustion becomes smoky or the flame is unstable despite a clean nozzle and correct settings
- The pump is noisy in operation, indicating wear in the internal gears
- Oil weeps from the pump body, shaft seal or solenoid stem

- Check the pump body is marked BFP 11 R3 before removing the old unit
- Confirm the existing coil is serviceable and can be transferred, or order a coil separately, as the pump is supplied without one
